hi everyone i have a 96 silverado ext. 2wd. after 170,000 it has started a lower end knock when i first start it in the mornings so im going to be looking to relpace/rebuild the motor it is the 5.7 vortec. while im in a rebuild i would like to bring it back with a little more umph thinking 350 closer to 400 but dont want to change the setup that is already in place so im looking for some feed back as what to do meaning different cams, heads, porting, bigger injectors, tb or whatever it might be thats gonna get me where i need to be and i thank you for any and all your help!!

changing it to 400 ci means it needs more fuel and air, so your going to have to change the setup... the best thing to do is bye a replacment engine from gm, slap on the old EFI, ad some headers, exhaust and a Cpu chip and you will be pushing pleatly of power.. trust me.

i guess  what im getting at is a chip and headers isnt enough have thAT already my idea is to build a 383 i didnt want a 400 ci i want 400rwhp but all the vortec motors i see that a re 400 ready to go are carbed i want to keep the fuel injection so i was thinking a 383 with heads polshed and port matched to the intake bigger cam and a ecm reflash i could hope fully be there
