I'm just a car nut. I've been rather anti-chevy until I bought this Suburban, now I'm really rethinking things. I had a '77 Sub I hated with a passion. Just got rid of a Chrysler Town and Country; I felt bad trading it in, but I needed a trade in...I would have rather burnt it to the ground, shoved it off a cliff and blew up what was left. Can you say "LEMON"? Our old Toyota 4Runner lasted nearly 300,000 miles and we loved them all. I replaced the alternator and batery in those miles. Thats it (ok, tires don't count!) I drive a Ford Excursion at work. I hate it. It's heavy, underpowered, uncomfortable and gets terrible mileage. Our Sub is geat! Ok, so after nearly 100k miles, the door locks are having issues and the dealer-instaled alarm malfunctions. Otherwise, it gets 18 mpg at 75 on the freeway, enough power to pass anything I need to, comfortable room for my 4 kids AND their stuff, and the brakes work great! (the van couldn't stop to save yer life!) A lot of it is personal preferance. Chevrolet/GM has some good stuff out, so do the others. There are some years of each I like beter and some years I wouldn't take if it was given to me. GM started the OnStar thing, which seems to be a realy good deal. I don't have it, but I want it. I could go on, but I won't. I'll end with my CJ7 that has 225,000 miles on it, gets 'wheeled and commutes 50 miles daily. Gotta love it!
