Windshield noise

Boblack -> Windshield noise (11/24/2007 6:40:20 AM)

Hi. New here. My Chevy Silverado 2003 windshield makes a noise on the highway, sounds like raindrops hitting the windshield. Any ideas on troubleshooting?
Thanks, Bob

I have that too, went away with the cold weather.  Let me know what you find out if anything.  I have no idea what it could be but I expect it to come back in the spring.

the hood style is the problem and its even worse if you have a bug guard on your truck. the wind comes off them and hits the gasket holding in your windshield. my grandfathers truck, brothers truck and my truck do the same thing. its nothing to really to worry about.. just turn up the radio!! thats why in 2004 they changed the hood style... because all the trucks did it.

That explains the reason why the noise stopped!  I removed the bug guard and now it is no where near as loud, but now the mirrors (or window visors, one of the two) whistle when the windows are open!  Vise vera when I put it back on.  I thought it was the weather and the havock it was causing the windsheild gasket or something.

i think you can get the gasket replaced.. in fact i think it was a recall so you might be able to get it fixed for free.. ill have to look into it. let you know what i come up with

I have an '07 NBS ext cab and the noise problem was fixed by the dealer. They said the noise was made by the airflow over the gaskets and was an easy fix. They took the side windshield gaskets off and re-installed them and added a double-sided tape (can't remember if it was 3M or not)   Anyway . . . . not a bit noise since.

Hey, did your noise sound like a faint whistle?  I have one that starts at 60 MPH.  I have an 07 NBS, and the noise is driving me crazy.

Mine does the same thing at 60+, but I don't notice it if the radio is on.  I don't know if its worth having the dealer look at though.
