Haynes and Chilton manuals are ok for basic repairs but nothing beats a factory service manual for detailed repairs.  Factory service manuals cost more but they provide far more information then you will ever see in a Haynes or Chilton repair manual.  One Haynes book covers several model years and engines of a body type -- service manuals often are several books all on one model.
