Has anyone had problems with Coastal Technologies product support???

I bought the iPod Lockpick in September and have had some problems with it. Their response to me was:

Regarding this issue I don’t think this will go away unfortunately I don’t know why you are having it.we will do some more research on our end here but for now I don’t have any solutions for you

I am hearing static from the iPod only when connected to the interface (no problem on headphones)
The 2nd XM preset button doesn't work when the Lockpick is installed
When I try to listen to XM, with or without the iPod connected, the Lockpick defaults to GM AUX INPUT

Is anyone else with the iPod Lockpick seeing these problems???

Yes, I've been having problems as well.  I've sent Coastaletech the following email about about 3 times now in the past month.  Not one response.

Hello,

I purchased and installed an GM iPod LockPick.  I also have a Gen 3 GM Lockpick in this equation.  I've noticed that when I now attempt to use the navigation menus while in motion, that it doesn't work any longer.  I've also noticed that when I turn the truck off and then back on after listening to XM, it always reverts to the iPod.  Sometimes it also when I choose to go back to XM it jumps over to the DVD or FM.  Lastly there's clipping in the highs on the audio.  Is this just a bad unit that I have, one of the first batch so to speak?  Can we do something to rectify this?

Thank you.

I've always defended this company's communication practices,  but it's very unfortunate that they don't get back to people's email in a timely fashion, though when it comes to taking money, they are right on top of it.  I'm very disappointed.

I have GMX-320 and Ipod lockpick and I have the same exact issue.  It happens most of the time, but not all the time.  It's kind of old screwing with this issue all the time.

The thing is garbage!!   I purchased a lock pick for my iPod....a lot of static and background noise and it acts up on the on screen.  I told them I was having problems and they claimed it was a first....think I talked to Carlos.  He told me to send it back via UPS and they would replace it.  I let them know that next day UPS was $30 and they don't want to cover the shipping on a faulty product and then if the second unit doesn't work I would have to spend another $30 to ship that one back.   I am going to mail it and demand a refund...STAAY AWAY FROM COASTAL TECH!!!!!!!

Tough call on this. Many people have had good experiences with them, and then you hear about the really bad ones. I have a GMX-320 installed, and and IPOD lockpick.

I have NO PROBLEMS with the GMX-320, but the IPOD lockpick is a little hinkey. I can't save the 9's XM channel in my presets anymore, any other channel works fine. I use the ipod lockpick for the extra audio inputs to listen to SIRIUS. I have an ITouch, but have not tried it yet. When they come out with the sirius controller for the GM LAN system I will scrap the ipod lockpick, but I will keep the GMX-320. I like being able to watch DVD's if I have to, but the big thing is the NAV override. I don't have to pull over anymore to enter stuff in the NAV.
