Today I finally got a chance to take my wifes car down to see about the noise in the front end. It is a popping sound when you turn and the steering felt loose. Turns out their is a tsb on the steering gear. And the popping noise is the same thing it went in for two years ago when they replaced both lower control arms, struts and some other stuff. The service advisor pulled me out of the waiting room and let me know that it may not be able to be fixed. WTF? He said some cars just have their things they are known for. He was getting with the shop foreman, service manager and the dealerships manager to see what to do.
I have a feeling my rear is about to get real sore. It is a '04 Malibu Maxx, it has 68k on it. The extended warranty we have expires next August or 100k. It is bumper to bumper. Have any of you dealt with this situation with a unfixable car before? If so, what gets done? Am I stuck with a car that will not be right? The car has never been in a collision, we bought it brand new so I know that for a fact. This dealership has been very good to me. But at this point I dont think the dealership would have anything to do with it. This is the very reason I almost cried when she brought this car home. It has been alright for a while but I nailed it when I told her at about 75 she would have problems and that is why the warranty was thrown into the deal but no warranty will take car of this headache.
Any advice or shared expierences would be greatly appreciated.
