I'm putting a 327 in a 84 Monte SS. I need to rebuild the engine and I wanna fix the motor up as much as possible. I would like some input on what I should get on everything for Carb, Heads, Cam, Headers, and everything. I know some stuff on cars but not a whole lot and would really apprecitiate all the help. This is mainly gonna be a street car but I wanna make it so I can go to drags strips and drag without looking bad. I'm probably going with Holley carb just don't know what cfm I need cuz I don't know what all I'm doing first. Thanks for your time and knowledge.

Is it a small journal block or a large journal block? First off I am going to say the same thing everyone else is going to say and I can honestly say I speak from expriance.  There is no replacement for displacement.  The 327 is a good motor I have one in my truck and had one in my chevy luv the only real down fall to them is they seem to lag a little in the torque department.  I say build it and run the wheels off of it but you would be better off with a 350 or something bigger.  The 327 isnt a bad motor but you have to spin them hard to make power.  My advice is get a good set of heads and use a dual plane manifold and dont over carb it.  I use a 600 cfm Eddy performer carb on mine and it runs pretty good.  My Chevy LUV had a 327 in it with good heads big valves and a tunnel ram with 2 450 cfm Holley 4150s I would say it would have been 10 times better with the 600 cfm carb and a dual plane manifold I am using now.  Just my 2 cents.
