I bought my rig about 4months ago. Its a '77 K5 6" Rancho lift, 4x4 35" Mudders. I have done minor cosmetics to the exterior(front and rear lights, step bar).  My first dilemma is that I have Hedman headers going straight to dual 3" flowmasters. I know it wont pass CA emissions. I need to get it Smoggd to at least get my registration tags. I want to do engine work first. Its a 350 V8 Manual tranny SN465. Edelbrock carb and intake. I just found out yesterday that my fuel filter is leaking fuel. The rubber tubes and the filter are both leaking. any suggestions. Needs new emergency brake lines replaced. Looking for Resto suggestions. Also want to resto interior completely. please help...

ok an update. i did some diggin and found out that my truck did pass the smog check. the guy i bought it off of, actually followed through on his word and got it smogged. there are still some honest people in this world today. i was supposed to take the paperwork(title, and registration) back to the DMV so they could issue my tags. got my appointment to do that in bout 2weeks. happy about that, but upset that i have wasted 4months not driving my truck around regularly.
 
here's my next area of focus. my fuel filter is leaking fuel. has anybody has this problem? if so has it led to other problems or is just simple to replace and fix.
 
does anybody have any recommendations about seat replacement? looking to replace front seats as well as add a middle console. are there any specific later models that would fit a '77?

Fuel filter: simple, just replace it and the rubber hoses. a few dollars and a few minutes, no problem. the labor is pretty self explanatory.

I could tell you a whole list here but are you wanting to do a FRAME-OFF? or just here n there?

if you want to start with the motor first, pull it out for starters. i suggest a 383 stroker, it is not only a reliable build, but it is one of the most efficiect performer motors ran off of pump gas. im actually working on a 383 stroker as we speak for my 77. go to http://www.strokerkits.com/chevy_stroker_kits.htm for the basics on boring and stroking and there they sell some pretty badass kits for gen 1 sbc and bbc.
