I have an 02 van with broken side hinge (fairly common on these vans). I'd like to know if any one has found a home remedy/quick fix for this. I'd appreciate any tips just to get the dumb pins out-hammer and pin not working.. Thanks alot!!

Did you remove the retaining ring from the pin? If so you need another able body to lift on the door while you take out the pins.

Saw nothing like a retainer, would this be on the tapered side?  Could you elaborate on removal of this?  The hinge actually broke off the door, so weight isnt and issue. I've spent a solid day on this to no avail, any more info would be great. Thanks

Which part of the hinge broke? The side on the door or the van side? If you are just trying to get the pin out then yes there is a retaining ring on the tapered side of the pin. If there is no retaining ring and it still won't come out I would spray a bunch of PB Blaster on the pin and then try to punch it out again (giving enough time for the blaster to go to work). If that doesn't work the try applying a little heat before you give it another whack.
Is the pin or hinge bent preventing it from coming out smoothly?

I used a combo of heat and lube. (And alot of hammering!) and finally got the bad pin out. Still saw no sign of a retainer clip though. Working on the bottom side (pain in the A$$ to hit) Thanks!
