Just wondering if a loose postitive battery cable, at the battery end could wreak havoc on an engine computer? For over a year now, our Monte Carlo with a Wal-Mart Everstart battery evidently has had a loose positive cable. We bought it used....car lot had a battery put in for us. Just last week the car losts its mind in my wife. Starting on its own after you release the key..uh....trying to die...just a number of odd things. I checked the alternator and battery and retightened the positive. Had about about two threads grabbing.

the loose cable could cause the computers not to get the right amount of voltage and cause them to act all crazy. shouldn't fry it or nething tho.

Get somebody to test the battery for COLD CRANKING amps, there is a special tool. This tool will tell all about Battery sulfation status and voltage. Standard procedure, make sure all battery terminals are tight, cleaned and properly connected. If the battery Cold Cranking amps are below 750CCA, get a NEW battery.
