did they somehow disconennect or kink or strip a part of the wire that goes to the sending unit or atleast the portion that sends the reading back to the guage?

It could be coincidence, but then again I have seen crazier stuff.  Did you notice this immediately after you picked up your truck?

bwaddell -> RE: In desperate need of help (10/18/2007 9:22:26 PM)

yes later on that nite.

bwaddell -> RE: In desperate need of help (10/18/2007 9:23:55 PM)

unsure

trace the wire and see if there are any kinks or cuts. start from the tank and go as far as you can. that would be my first test.

wires checked ok need gas tank dropped for further inspection. But very costly to do.

what year is your truck?  any warranty left??

jimmydaleo -> RE: In desperate need of help (10/18/2007 9:34:49 PM)

dont pay to have it dropped. drive it till it is real low then do it yourself.... Are you mechanically inclined? if so do it. if not a 12 pack, a bar-b-que and some friends and things can get accomplished. Do you have a volt/ohm meter?

2005 Chevy Silverado1500. warranty wont cover fuel sending unit. Im a Hairdresser not a mechanic
