Anyone know of any bulbs in the warning light system that would put the alternator in 'no-charge' ?? And where's the fuse that would do the same thing? I'm assuming in the main distribution box.

hello billy-225, if you warning light in your gauges say 'no-charge'   um there was a joke there lmao...
it could be a failling alternator, have the alt tested for free at a parts store. i really dont understand the fist part of your quiestion, but for the second part theres no fuse that i know of  for the sevice light .

oh yeah no no...

what I mean to ask is... I've got the appearance of an alternator failing but it might be something less.  I went to get an alternator. looked the replacement up online and it came with this intstallation alert... INSTALLATION ALERT! A blown fuse or bulb in the warning lamp circuit may cause a "no charge" condition.

I'm just looking for this fuse or this 'possible' bulb.  There may be a bulb in series with a relay somewhere, or there may be a fused relay, or just a big fuse that would keep the alt from charging the battery.

i just read up on the charging system in the haynes manual and it talks about two types of alts, si/cs.
the best two suggestions i can make are, buy a haynes manual from a local parts store or call a local chevy/gmc  dealer that has sevice techs. thay will let you know about the fuse/light issue.

You mentioned that the brake pedal switch caused a failure of your voltage guage. The problem went away when you changed the switch, what happened when the switch was merly unplugged?
