ok, my S10 is just about to hit 130,000 miles, and I think its just about time for another oil change. First off, i have little knowledge about oil changes (I have always taken it to jiffy-lube). And second off i have no idea of what viscosity of oil to use. So i would like to get this done this weekend. Thanks, 86_S10.

Hello, i see why you want to diy the oil, jiffy lube gets caustly every 3000 miles.im no pro but I have tuned a lot of wrenches,so 10w 30 sae is a good standard viscosity range for most vehichals, hot or cold weather.. but not extream cold -5w 30sae for that . I use mobil 1 / 5000 mile oil in my high milage 4.3 v6 also a purilator oil filter. its best to change your pvc valve and air filter at the same time. hope this helps and i would suggest a haynes manual for tune ups and other min / maj repair info.
