Hey, New here and i have a problem i just bought a 2003 Trailblazer with the 5.3 Vortec. I have a service engine light on and i would like to know if there is some sort of code i can get from the car. My old sentra (2004 specv) had a thing where i could press the gas pedal a few times and and hold it, then some lights would blink then i had to do another thing and the dash lights would blink giving me a code. Then i would be able to look the code up and see whats is wrong with the car. Can Chevys also do this? If anyone can help me please let me know... thanks for your time... laters.

Just go by a parts store, autozone, advance, oreilly's, etc, and ask them to read the codes for you. All the stores have a reader and they will plug it in to your vehicle and read any present or pending codes for you for free. You can't get the codes with flashy lights any longer. Since the mid 90's, all vehicles have the OBD2 (On board diagnostics) port just below the steering column on the bottom of the dash. That's where you plug the code reader in.
