Hello all Im new to CF. I am lucky enough to have one of the 01 2500hd silverado's with the famous       " piston slap" noise. I have tried the easy fixes that I have heard from friends.....The questions I have are of course is there any fix for this? If not. What about replacing the engine? What would be the cost of an engine replacment? As im sure with anyone else that has this problem it is driving me nuts..
Thanks

Hi Scoyoc5
What engine do you have, and how many miles on it? What kind of driving do you do? Any towing of heavy loads? Have you found out yet what is causing the slap, and have you fixed the problem? I think changing the engine would be uncalled for, and a very expensive fix unless you have several thousand dollars to spend . I have an 02 2500HD with the 8.1 engine and tow a 5th wheel with max allowed  weight. I have about 88K miles on it and absolutely no problems with anything.

Hey guys,
To answer some of your questions. I have the 6.0L with only 70,000 miles. I started hearing the noise somewhere around 55,000 if I remember right. I hate this noise! I do tow a 27' travel trailer. I love my silverado and have enough money into it that I want to fix it. 6" rcd lift  35" toyo's stone crusher weld wheels. Im just hoping to find that one fix that will solve this issue. Thanks for you respones
John

P.S. I live in Washington St.
