You kinda have to look at that with a bit of distaste... Every one of the above are made and designed in Japan. They are not homegrown, they're "other". But there is a place for Microcars in this day and age. Are they GM or not? And if not - what should GM do in terms of creating something grass roots with high mileage but yet performance? The one big complaint I have noted in owners of these cars is that they are not sporty enough. Lack of big power. But power is a function of HP vice curb weight. Power per pound... SMALL package, decent power, good handling. What is the answer? How small a car can be made, with a powerplant (easy to work on) that is big enough to make it seriously scoot... I wonder Do you think General Motors could design a car with the haul-ass of a mini cooper, and the same compact (economical) size? And would you buy the sucker...
