2000 s-10 - 7/1/2006 8:00:15 AM    das1984   Posts: 5 Joined: 7/1/2006 Status: offline I have 2000 s-10 and my wife was pulling out into traffic and when she push on the gas pedal she said it would not pickup speed it was running but the rpm would not go up any ideals on what it could be. TPS, bad fuel pump, bad timing, (if it bogs down when you get on it it is more than likely timing) The comp can only adjust so far. (in reply to das1984) Post #: 2

If they ask you if your light is on at that moment don't listen to them. If you have a 96 or newer and the engine light has been on it should still show the fault, unless the computer has been reset. good luck. (in reply to das1984) Post #: 4

Since the light is coming on it's more than likely going to throw a o2 sensor code. I doubt it would be timing since it's all computer controlled. (in reply to kcb37) Post #: 5

Or it could be (I don't know if a 2000 would have this or not, but the older ones have plastic teeth on the cam gear) They tend to wear out pretty bad, and could cause the chain to jump a lot easier. Also if he didn't buy it new some highschool kid could have been trying to hot rod it. Which would only worsen the problem. (in reply to NCHEVYHEVN) Post #: 8

Kinda stereotyped though on the highschool kid part. I just turned 20 and granted all young kids aren't the smartest when it comes to motors but I've seen plenty of older guys that think they know stuff about cars but have no clue. Especially the ones that can work on older cars and think it applies to newer cars. I just plain hate that.
