Looking at buying my first pickup.   Its a 2000 Siverado 1500 with a Z71 package, 5.3 L engine, automatic trans, 97k miles, selling for $8700. Talking with a friend of mine who knows Chevy's, he was reccomending against it, saying that 2000's had transmission problems.  Additionally, he was saying this was the first year of this model, and the '99s were much better.

So looking for some more input.  Anyone have opinions of '00 Chevy 1500?  Any truth to these transmission problems?  any info would be appreciated before I buy the truck.

Thanks

I bought a '00 in January of this year, mostly out of urgent need. At that time, in this area, with 87,xxx miles, & 4x4, $13,000 was a good price.

There are a few quirks in the vehicle as there is with any vehicle. Overall I'm very pleased with the performance of the 5.3 engine, and haven't had any tranny issues.

Color mine, thumbs up...

Steve

I had a 2000 with 100,000 miles and it ran great. Have a friend with one with 150,000 miles and all he had was a bac ac comp. Hope this helps.
