I have a 2002 s 10 4x4, 4.3 ltr. ...i just purchased this 2 weeks ago...the security system is malfunctioning. (truck wont start) this has happened 2 times now. it spent a day at the dealership and mechanic cold not find problem. it didnt through any codes so he could diagnose it. does anyone have any suggestions or know what may be wrong?? Have the Dealer Check the Chip in your Key... The newer GM's have a chip (built inside the key itself) which sends a signal to the computer telling it to allow it to start.  If the previous owner had a new key made or there is a bad chip you could have this problem.  This may or may not be the issue but its a good place to start...  My mothers Avalanche had that same issue.  I know for a fact most new ford keys you have made needs to be reprogramed with the computer, because i used to be a mechanic at a ford dealer.
