Hello Tahoe owners !
I am an owner of a 2005 Nissan Armada (which for the most part I like). The main issue I have is the dismal gas milage. about 10 mpg around town / 15 highway (with a tailwind). I have checking out the Tahoe and would like to hear some real word gas mileage from current owners.
Thanks !

I'm getting about 13.9 - 14 average on the trip computer.  But I have 2" front leveling kit, 20 inch stock rims and oversized tires BFGs 285/55/20.  If I corrected the speedometer with a chip programmer because of the slightly larger tire size, it would increase slightly, but no where near the advertised value.

The MPG for the Tahoe was probably rated with LS 17" rims and 265/70s.

I used to have an 03 Denali with 6.0L and I got about the same mileage, so "Active Fuel Management" is pretty underwhelming.  Can you imagine what the mileage could be if it didn't have it?

Wow, I complain because I get 18.  Do you guys drive in Tow/Haul mode, it drastically improves my city average, I can cruise in town in V4 mode all day, only on acceleration am I in V8.

Just curious, is everyone trusting the computer, or are you actually calculating the mileage?  Did anyone verify that the computer is on the money?  Whenever I get gas, I always fill'r'up so it's easy for me to calculate miles/gallons.

I just ordered a 2008, but am currently driving a 2001 Tahoe.  The last time I calculated my milage, it was about 14mpg after a week of highway driving.  I'll be happy if the 08 is a few MPG better.

dont know about a 'a few MPG better' but it should get better as it gets broke in. they really excel on the highway for milage, as do the trucks around town just like any other BIG SUV

Just checking to see if you drive with Tow/Haul mode ON?  Do you have a 2WD or 4WD?

Sorry, my Dodge is my daily driver, it has a tow/haul button.  Our tahoe is a 2wd, I drive around town in tow mode.  It raises the RPM's before shifting into the next gear, which allows it to cruise in V4 mode alot more than in regular driving.  I have asked if it was meant to do that or was it a coincedense, the general consensus was it is a fluke.   Obviously alot has to do with driving habits and discipline, but I can comfortably cruise around and get decent mileage for a 7k pound chunk of steel.

I did the calculations for both 87 octane and E85. Below is the link to that post. I now have 14,000 miles on my Tahoe and the mileage has gotten better. I now average around 14.7mpg on 87 Octane.
