I just replaced my fuel pump and the vehicle is not starting. I know the pump was bad. There is about 5 gallons of Gas in the vehicle. Is there a fuse or relay that goes out when the pump does? I've been starting the truck when it won't turn over by hitting the tank with a rubber hammer ( while someone turns the key over). This has gotten me through till the pump finally dropped out. Can anyone suggest any options to take to get my vehicle running? Is there a vacuum issue I don't know about. thnx a mill!

Before I changed out the fuel pump. when the vehicle died on me. The gas gauge went all the way over to past full. After changing the fuel pump and new connector the guage still goes all the way past full when I try and start my truck.

99 Tahoe. 4 dr.

well do u hear ur fuel pump running when u turn the key on? when u installed the new style connector u may have blown the fuel pump fuse so i'd check that in the underhood fuse block. also check the f/p relay under the hood.
