First of all I would like to say that I am obviously new to the forums here and that I chose this particular forum because you all seem to know and really care about your trucks. That being said, I have a situation that I would like some opinions on. I'm looking at a sweet pewter 2000 Silverado 2500 6.0L 4X4 with 73k on it... since the 2500's are exempt from EPA standards, I couldn't find the average mpg on any official website. Owners of the 2500 6.0's what do you get for milage without towing? I know it's going to be downright terrible, but I don't care. If I wanted good mpg... I'd buy a prius. I'm still in high school so I don't have a long commute anyways... basically about 3 miles to school and about 6 to work. Since I'm still considered a risky driver to insure (17, but no tickets whatsoever, good student discount) are these trucks pretty expensive to ensure, especially the 4X4 ones? If you check my profile you'll see that I live in Des Moines, Iowa and it snows like there's no tomorrow up here. I really don't plan on using this for any heavy towing, I just have always loved the look and ride of chevy trucks. Considering the truck won't see any off roading or towing, can I expect it to last a long time or can I look forward to some problems? Not sure if you guys would know, but they are asking 13,000 (From a dealership) for the truck... reasonable? Unlike a lot of teenagers, I would be paying for the whole cost of the truck myself, so getting a good deal is really important. Thanks guys!
