I have a stock cd player out of a 2006 silverado.  I tried to put it in my 07 silverado and its locked.  The display on the stereo says "locked".  Can anybody help me.

You have to take a trip to your local chevy dealer to unlock the radio.  What has to happen is they need to download your vehicles info into their tech2 they then login to gm's dealeronly website.  What essentially happens is they tell gm what equipment is in your car then Gm's website prettymuch sends them the new communication data to there tech2 which then they go back out to your car upload the new info into your bcm and the bcm will recognize the new equipment. voula your radio should be unlocked.  I know this because i use to do this for the dealerships they would always want to take a nav system out from one car and put it into another that didn't have one.  There is one thing 07's i know that the suvs tahoe's and denali's escalade's do use different equipment. so  06 equipment in them may not work.  but the silverado i would not be so sure so check with your local dealer.  Normally the person who would know the most on this subject up there would be a aftermarket installer that works for the dealership.  There is an influx of factory navs on the market for gm and this is the only way to upgrade it using factory equipment.  especially once it is used equipment.
