OK, a little back story here, Our mechanic at work put in a new radiator in my 2001 Blaxer 4x4. He did not tighten up the bottom bolts so now somehow we have an oil leak. He will fix that tomorrow for me but he steam cleaned the engine to see where the leak was coming from and then the tranny started to feel like it was slipping. Yesterday the slip got much worse and the service engine light came on. Today I went to Autozone and they hooked up and did a diagnosis. The code that came up was P1870. The guy there said it is a manufacturer code and he did not know what it was. Also does the serpentine (sp?) belt have anything to do with the tranny? The belt is in pretty bad shape and is going to be replaced within a few days, I hope. Does anyone here know what a P1870 means, what in the world would cause it and how to fix. I would really like to go to our mechanic tomorrow with some kind of information to tell him so he realizes I am not an idiot just because I am a woman. Thanks so very much in advance. Sindy

Hello, welcome to the forums. Your trouble code "P1870" means that you have a Transmisson Componet Slippage.

The serpentine belt has nothing to do with the tranny. The oil leak you refer to from the rad replacement ... is this by chance trans. fluid leak ? If so that might be the cause for your trans. slipping and the P1870 code... check the trans. fluid level it may be very low and top it up if so .... otherwise you will burn up the trans.
