Our son just arrived to visit.  His 1997 3/4 ton Chev, 180K miles, 350 auto has odd problem:  He says when driving, at times, the ABS light comes on in the instrument panel and the following other electricals quit- Cruise, 4WD,Rear Defrost, and heater fan.  Then the ABS light will extinguish on it's own, and everything returns to normal.  He's check/replaced all fuses and clean all electrical connections he could find.

We have no electrical diagram on this truck.

Any ideas, tips, or info sources would be appreciated.  Perhaps some of you have had a similar problem and it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks,
Dennis

I would get a repair manual for it, then look to see if any of the wires on those systems connect to any one thing.

Thanks.  A manual is certainly on the list to get.

Sounds as if this is an unusual problem.  Apparently there are not many electrical oddities with these trucks as there does not seem to be much experience out there with such things.

I haven't heard anything quite like your problem yet.  The only thing I would think the brakes should affect would be the cruse control.
