Forget the mufflers...  Just do side pipes coming from the Cats.  Unique and very LOUD.

About six months ago I installed the GM Performance Parts exhaust system on my 03' Silverado LT. I got the duel cat back system with the touring muffler and chrome Chevy tips. The sound is low and mellow until you stick your foot in it. I don't get the highway drone like other exhaust systems. Yes, it's a little pricy but you get what you pay for. The best thing is it came with a GM warranty for 12 months or 12 ,000 miles. If you prefer a louder sound then get the performance muffler. Either way you can't go wrong if you keep it all Chevy.

Personally, I love my 50 series Flowmaster.  Loud when it needs to be, mild most of the time.

I recently stright piped my 2007 2500HD Silverado Classic. I just took out the stock muffler and put a stright pipe in its place. It seemed to help performance and it has very nice and loud sound to it.
