Does anyone know if the rear diff cover is considered a sheetmetal part and if so would it be covered under the corrosion warranty? My wife has an 02 K2500 and I noticed fluid on the floor in the garage yesterday. Seen the rear diff had oil dripping from it so I stopped and got a new gasket, new plugs (fill & drain) and a couple quarts of 80-90W. Tore it apart, cleaned it up (lots of rust on the outside) and slapped it back together. While under there I noticed oil seeping through the COVER, not at the gasket.

Any chance Chevy will cover this? I'm out of the 3yr/36k warranty but I think the corrosion warranty is 6yr/100k. Is that right? If so any chance this could be covered?

Anyone else noticed this on there truck? I had a 99 Silverado that the same thing happened to. Unfortunately it happened all at once and I didn't notice. I had 6k pounds in tow and it didn't take long for the rear end to come unglued. Loud bang!

For those of you who may have been wondering... According to Serpentini Chevrolet in Orrville, OH it isn't covered. $36 for a new cover, seal, and hardware.
