Looking for some input. I need to buy a truck for camping, off road use, sand lake, hauling my quad, etc. I think I have a good idea of what I want but I am looking for some help on what to look for.

Engine?
Trans?
Years to avoid?
Easy to lift 6"-10"?

Trying to keep it cheap but reliable.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The easiest to lift are more than likely the 88 to 98 body style.  Because their are so many and parts have been on the market for a while.  I would go with a 350 if you can find one.  More than likely you will find a 700r4 or a 4l60e.  If you are going to put big tires on the truck I would rebuild the tranny stronger, but they are both good trannies and you will want your overdrive.
