my 91 3.1 has been haunted for a while now. it has 110,000 miles. in the past it would sometimes loose power like it was starving for fuel then eventually it got worse and more often until the fuel pump quit. I replaced the fuel pump and things were better for a while until I forgot that the fuel guage read high and ran out of gas.. the car now will not run. whenI turn the key fuel pressure will go to about 15 lbs then back to 0. Turn the key off then on again and the pressure will go to 30 - 40 and again bleed back down. turn the key and it starts, stumbles, and pressure goes to 43 at which point the motor stalls and the fuel pressure goes back to 0 did I cook the new pump or does this sound like a pressure regulator problem. Thanks Rich

check the fuel pressure regulator, the diaphram is most likely broken and or leaking. very common.
