I just bought a 07 ext cab 4x4 5.3L. I had a 2000 in the same package. This truck pulls a 7200lb trailer twice a month, 200 miles each way. I get 14.2 mpg loaded and 16.5 empty. The frame/suspension and brakes handle the trailer a lot better than the old truck. I have trailer brakes of course. I load the trailer with a tractor so I can move the weight around to get the best balance/performance/safety. When it is balanced to eliminate sway and darting front end the truck is squatted a little below level.
