I have a 1995 chevy s10, I installed a new starter in December. The Starter worked great up until June, I turned the key and had battery power to everything else in the truck, the starter didnt make a noise when I turned the key, I turned the ignition key on and off about 10 times and it finally gave in. The same problem has been happeneing ever since, it will go a week with no problems, then out of no where wont start. It has been so bad a few times(wouldnt crank over at all) that I had to pop start(lucky I have a manual), after the pop start the starter worked. Now its sitting in my driveway and wouldnt crank for 2 days, until this morning it started right up. I checked all connections(including the battery) and everything is tight,. Im thinking the problem is either the starter itself, the solenoid or the ignition, is there a starter switch somewhere that could be causing this? Please give me your opinions and suggestions what the problem could be and how I should go about solving it, thank you

I don't know much bout trucks and cars when it comes to your problem but could there be a relay that is going bad or like you said maybe have it checked out by someone for the solenoid.

Sorry could not help more..

Not sure its relevant to you,  but I had an ongoing problem with my old camero, starter,    It turned out to be all heat related,   usually it would start fine in the am (1st of the day)   but it got so bad that I had to mannual start the starter  (Screw driver between +/- @ the starter)  I finally fabricated a piece of asbestace coated between starter and block which resolved it 98%)

So if its heat related,  might help.
