Leveling a Silverado

I've got a 2005 Silverado 1500 and would like to get the front up a bit (you can see this in the pic).  I want to know if this has any adverse affects on ride, handling, braking, gas mileage, etc.  I know a buddy of mine had a lifted Tundra and had to get new brake rotors after he took his lift off and it messed up his front end alignment and whanot.  Would doing anything like this damage the vehicle in any ways.  Also, what brands do you recommend for kits and if I buy a kit could I have a dealer/shop install it?  Any other info/experiences you have had or before/after pics would help also.  Thanks

   To level it do the following: Jack up the front of the truck, then place it on stands. There are 2  bolts that put tension on the torsion bar keys under the cab on the cross brace of the frame (underneath  the truck about where the front seats are). Crank these bolts clockwise with a 18 mm socket  5 or 6 turns (both bolts exactly the same  revolutions) this will bring it up to level,  maybe 1-1/2 to 2 inches up in the front..  *Then get a front end alignment.*  -Your front wheels will probably be 1.5 - 2 degrees positive camber after you turn these bolts! - .     Simple as that.  Ride is a little more stiff  but the truck will look like a 2500 now and you will be able to put on 285- 295  series tires no prob! I did this and I'm OK with it after about a year. There is absolutley no effect on gas mileage. It does not hurt the longevity of you truck either.

will the leveling work on a 2003 , i checked under the truck and found the bolts, but it said something on the frame about not exceeding the z-height. have no idea but would really like to raise the front end .

I did it on my '03. It works, but I have never seen or heard of the "Z height".

Look at stylinconcepts.com and look for the ReadyLift Torsion Keys which will raise it where you want it. I had put these on my 2006 2500HD and they worked great.

thanks, WHEN I STARTED CRANKING IT UP I NOTICED THE BOLTS WHERE NOT EVEN, SO I CRANKED THE SHORTEST ONE UP FIRST TO SEE HOW MANY CRANKS I COULD GET, IT BOTTOMED OUT AT 3.5 SO THEN I CRANKED THE OTHER SIDE UP 3.5 CRANKS BUT IT STILL LIKES PROBABLY 3 MORE CRANKS BEFORE IT WOULD BOTTOM OUT, SO I STOPPED...IS IT NORMAL FOR THE BOLTS TO BE UNEVEN FROM THE START??????

    I dont know but think of this. Even if they aren't the same length, they where both set to the same setting to achieve the the right height and camber so like I said earlier:  CRANK BOTH SIDES IN EQUALLY take measurements from rocker to the ground or from fender to the ground.and  then get your alignment done

THANKS FOR THE HELP DUDE..HEY DO YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE BELT TO SQUEAL AT ABOUT 9:00 ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND ONLY AT THAT POSITION, THE BELT LOOKS GOOD????
