83 Chevy

Im getting an 83 chevy 1500 silverado. Its got 8.5 inch 10 bolts axles. It currently has 35x12.50's under it. Thats WAY to much tire for my kind of driving and its to much strain on the little 10 bolts. So my question is would a 33x12.50 or wider inch tire hold up to mild off road use? the truck will eventually have a mid built 350 vs the 305.
