Has anyone ever swapped out their speed sensitive steering box for a standard one. I'm thinking about doing this on my 98' suburban with a box out of a 96' pickup. The steering is more loose than I like and when pulling my camper it actually terrifies me on the highway. I have a 96' pickup also and that pulls my camper straight as an arrow. Thats why i'm thinking about this swap. I have already changed the steering sensor, checked all tie rods, idler and pitman arms.

Does the "looseness" come and go? Mine did and it was allegedly the sensor at the bottom of the steering column. Maybe check that instead of replacing the system.
