74camarodriver -> visually modified cars (6/25/2007 12:25:25 PM)

 Like the Honda's and such that you see driving around with ridiculous body kits, 20" rims, giant spoilers and such. There are so many of them around here and they're annoying. Does anyone else agree with me on that?
I hate them. I think they're the ugliest things on the road. I usually agree with the "to each his own" statement, but I think this is taking it a step too far. Lets face it...A body kit, a glue on hood scoop, a ridiculous spoiler (on a front wheel drive car) and a fart cannon will do absolutely nothing positive to your car.
The "modified" exhaust doesn't relieve any backpressure if the inlet hole is still the normal 1" Honda pipe and the outlet is upwards of 3". It may relieve a little bit of the pressure that a normal muffler would create, but this isn't enough to significantly increase any power or torque.
A body kit is nothing more than something that will make your car appear low. They don't make the car any more aerodynamic or any faster. All it does is make the thing look like crap and half the time, it's not even painted to match the car.
An abnormally large spoiler does not do anything to a front wheel drive except create an enormous amount of drag and make the car's handling worse.
Is anybody else on this site bothered by this, or am I all alone?[sm=rant.gif]

I agree. I call them snow plows in here in Michigan. BUT you can deny the quality of some foreign cars. When I get to the point to sell my malibu I bet I will not even come close to what I bought for it. I also know there are many factors to why my car may not get what I paid, anyways. My point is, that just like hot rods, lifted trucks and other "groups" they fade out after being glorified by the general population. Like me I love trucks I know very little about cars. But I think huge lifted big tire'd trucks that are just trailer queens are what I think look stupid. BUT some guys just have way too much money to toss around and some of those ricer cars could easily smoke a vette. P.S. why is it so quiet on the forum?

I've raced most of the ricers around here in both my Camaro and in my S-10. The S-10's running a 350, so it's got some balls. I've beaten almost every single one around here in my little stoplight races. The only one that ever gave me a problem was a Supra and that was when I was in the truck. I could have easily smoked him in the Camaro.

I don't know why it's so quiet on the forum. It's one of the smaller ones that I've joined, so I thought it was just me.

NOTHING SAYS RIZERS LIKE A HONDA

EuroGoldLS -> RE: visually modified cars (7/31/2007 5:26:52 AM)

I don't particularly like ricemobiles myself, but you have to give them credit where credit is due, some of those guys are squeezing upward of 400hp out of those 4 cyl.
I did see one Mitsu ricer that looked pretty good. old Evo 5, had a spoiler tha looked like it could be factory. Dual exhaust, true turbo kit, true hood scoop, roof scoop with intercooler inside,  rally style bumpers (no drop look), and EVERYTHING was painted red to match.

I do give them credit for their performance work, but if they do pointless visual things to their car (lots of them, if it looks relatively stock, then it's ok) then it's just rice.
