Alright, here is a little update--- I filled the tank with 87 octane from BP instead of Shell. Same issue. I called and talked to Edge, and gave them all the information. Here is what I told them.

-I have an Avalanche--
-The temp outside has been 90* plus the last couple of weeks
-I live basically at sea level.
-I am getting detonation.
-It happens under moderate to heavy acceleration. (If I need to pull out in front of somebody)
-The stock ECM and TCM calibration numbers.
-I am using 87 octane on setting 2 (economy).

I talked with John who said that he is going to be giving this to the EEC2200 techs to see what is going on. The are going to pull my factory programs and look at them as well.
So far, they have been very professional and extremely helpful.

Hi Toy,
Any updates on your economy mode pinging issue?

Also I just ran into a $50 rebate from Edge (until 9/30/07) for this...  See this link to download PDF form:

http://content.performanceproducts.com/instructions/EdgeRebateClaimForm2.pdf

You mentioned earlier in this thread that you had an authorized vendor for $395?  Can we do the rebate on top of this price?

That is correct.

You do end up 4 dollars better with my connection (he is an Edge MVP dealer).

I have not seen any recent posts on this thread and was hoping to see how things were working out for the proud owners of the Edge system.

- Any updates on gas milage improvement?
- Any drivability issues?
- I have the complimentary OnStar for one year where they monitor your vehicle and send you updates via e-mail, will they be able to tell that I reflashed the ECM?
- Any other 08' owners bought one yet? Are the 08's supported?

I called Edge and asked these questions with limited success.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have no update on my detonation issue.  I am talking with Edge again today to get more information.  My gauge pod was shipped yesterday though

Here is an update on my detonation problem.  Edge just called me back.  They say that I have an isolated problem.  They are taking all of my information and building an economy tune specifically for me.  It will be completed tomorrow.  I will let you guys know  how it goes.  I am thinking that after I get my economy tune working correctly, I will try the performance tune.

I think with my heavy ass foot I'm getting the best mileage that this truck is going get. In town driving between two tanks of  87gas with the unit in #2 mode which is designed for the fuel economy I'm getting 13.9 with no highway driving. Keep in mind with the new exhaust and intake im enjoying smashing gas the little more than before and was ranging between 12.9 and 13.4 in stock trim. Also I've been farting around with the tow/haul mode on. It just seems to drive better in my opinon. With the longer shift points and a better throttle response when you touch the throttle.

As far as driveability problems I havent had any so far. After running three tanks of 87 in #2 I put 93 back in and reloaded the #4 setting and I noticed a huge difference in power. I believe this is where the unit is going to stay until we decided to hit the highway.

Alright, here is an update.  I have been dealing with John at Edge.  They have given me one custom tune that doesn't knock nearly as much.  They are going to change timing a fuel a little more and hopefully it will be set.  I am going to run the performance tune tomorrow.

Also, I finally got my pod in here are some pictures of it installed.

The color match is pretty close.
