Cole Younger -> Strong gas smell (5/31/2007 9:16:20 PM)

Hi all, new here.
I just have a quick question. On my '94 Suburban 7.4L with throttle body fuel injection, I am A) getting a real strong odor of fuel from the charcoal cannister and B) my mpg has really gotten bad. Don't know what it is but I am putting gas in this puppy like crazy. The check engine light is also coming on intermittently.
A non-dealership mechanic I took it to says the Fuel Pressure Regulator is bad and sending too much fuel into the system so it is being routed to the cannister.
Any thoughts on this, anyone else have a similar experience?
