Has anyone heard anything about synthetic power steering fluid.  The 2007 Silverado's power steering pumps hiss and have some hard steering and this is GM's fix.  I'm not seeing it.

I have a 2007 and haven't experienced any hissing or hard steering issue? Are you talking about the 07 Classics or the NBS 07's(mine is NBS )? Actually the steering is one of the small handful of things on my NBS I was impressed with.

Many mfg's use automatic transmission fluid for the power steering. I haven't checked to see what GM uses in the NBS. Royal Purple does offer a synthetic hi-perf PS fluid however.

It's a classic 07.  Apparently, GM just came out with a bulletin.  They seem to be having a lot of problems with this.  Does anyone know of a site that posts these types of bulletins?  I know this site is supposed to but they don't have anything current.

The STB came out about 6 months ago, GM has discovered that using Valvoline SynPower Synthetic Power Steering Fluid resolves power steering pump whine noise from idle to about 2,000 RPM's in about 99% of the cases.
This particular fluid has a different composition that mineral based power steering fluid, it lubricates and performs better all around.

It takes 3-4 quarts to flush the system, don't just drain and refill.
This Valvoline fluid is readily available in most auto parts stores such as Auto Zone and Checker's, Napa and Pep Boys

it might be just me but i think i noticed the steering getting stiffer on my 07 classic also the other day when it was hot out & driving through town for a while., the brakes seemed to still work decent. no whining noise, just the steering felt a little tight.

How do you flush the power steering system?
