I have had this car for 9 years and I am about to put my 4th set of tires on. It has 160K miles, I bought it with 35K and I am a pretty mild driver. I always put good 75K - 100K tires on my car. I am going crazy trying to figure out why I have gone through so many tires. I had a 1979 Volvo for 5 years and never needed new tires and I drove the same in that car. I have two questions for you. 1) What kind of tires have you found that work best? ( I am moving to Denver from California) 2) Is there some reason why I have 195 65/R15 tires when the car originally came with 195 70/R14 and can I put 195 70/R14 on the wheels? Any help would be great. Thanks

Futura tires have lasted me a LONG time and i have a 97 too. and its ok that you have 195/65R15 because the lug patterns are the same as 195/70R14. But in order to switch back to the r14's you would have to get new wheels to. The "r" stands for rim. If you have R15's on there, your rim is 15 inches. If you want the R14's you need to buy 14 inch rims.
