What can you tell me about the 350 V8 in a 1988 Caprice Classic? Specs and Such.... Is it a good start for upgrading? I plan to swap Eng/Trans into an 1984 Elky What shoudl I do to "freshen" up the motor? Here' my post on the Elky site... I have a 1984 GMC Diablo. 305/Auto. Trans is shot and wanted an OD unit anyway. Motor has 138K miles with rebuilt heads 20K ago. Wanted more power/potential with motor. Found an 1988 Caprice Classic Cheap!. 118K miles/350/OD Trans/4bbl Thinking of doing a full swap. Engine/Trans Good Idea or Bad Idea? Other than cross memeber and driveshaft issues, what should I look forward to. My sons are helping and years ago VW motor rebuilds/swaps were part of my repertoire. So I think it's doable with the right instructions/help/tools. Any suggestions/concerns. Let me know what you think.... Marc

on a 350 v8, the number of upgrades are countless. it really depends on how serious you are and how much money VS power you want. you can bore the block, or find some nice bolt-on's. I'm doing both on my 350. for example...so far I have bored my 350 to a 383 stroker and plan on attaching a turbo when I find one.
