An acquantaince of mine said that he is getting a 454 bored over to make a 502. That does not seem possible. What are the differences, like stroke, rod length, etc? Can you make a 454 to a 502? Just 'boring' it over does nothing and I do not see 50 cubes from boring it:)

From what I can tell, the difference between the two is only the bore size. The 454 has a 4.25 bore with 4.00 stroke and the 502 has a 4.466 bore with a 4.00 stroke. Thats only a difference of .216

Just boring a 454 block will not get you to 500 ci., the most you can bore a production 454 block, and this is only certain castings, and provided there is no core shift is .125". With the stock stroke this will give you 481ci. However if you add a 4.250" stroke crank and bore it .100" over you will get a 505ci. and if you bore it to .125" over with this stroke you will get 511ci.
