I have a 2007 avalanche with 6500 miles and the pistons knock in the morning when I start it up. GM has had this problem since 2000 with the 5.3.engine. This engine started knocking since new, the power is down and so is the MPG compared to the 2004 avalanche I had. The 4 to 8 cyl. change is a joke the only time it goes to 4 cyl. is when your going down hill. What a disapointment spend all that money for a new weak, knocking, gas sucking truck. No wonder the foreign car companys are out selling GM. GM has have had this problem for 7 years and they keep pushing them out. The foreign car co. would have corrected the problem. WHEN WILL GM WAKE UP, ITS ALMOST TO LATE. I alway bought AMERICAN CARS,next time I will look at the foreign autos

Welcome to the Chevrolet Forum!!!!! Sorry to hear about your issue with your Avy. Have you taken it in to a dealer for service? If you dont get a solution try again, go to another dealer, call GM 800#. I have found them be very responsive. If you have a lemon maybe you can get GM to buy it back. I have had just about every make of car/truck out there and no manufacturer is immune to a lemon. The best you can hope for is for the manufacturer to stand behind ther product which Iknow GM has done. Dont give up and keep plucking away until you get the answer you need. Good luck.

I retired from the gm tech center and even they would not help me out on a new car engine problem. Burned a quart of oil every 800 to 900 miles. I finally dumped the car and went used

I get an occasional engine ticking noise when cold for about 5 minutes when warming up, it happens maybe 2 times a month, and goes away and things are fine. I hope it's nothing :-o
