I have a complete engine, trans and controls i bought and am instaling in a street rod project. i was told it was out of a 1996 impala. but i think it is from something else and am trying to find wiring diagrams and help to set this up in the early car i am building, without buying a street rod harness from an aftermarket source.

Yes, I know that the Chevy parts guys may help. But I was hoping I would find someone out there that actually works on their cars and/or did an install with one of these.. Kind of someone that has already beeen there and done that..

Parts guys, seem to first ask what year and model???,,, heck, I have no clue... Then I need to ask,,, what do I realy NEED out of this harness??? Certainly I don't need any of this ABS stuff that I think is still part of this mess... The guy at this dealership just goes blank.

hmmm..if you are strong enough with wiring...i would just try to find a service manual for the impala...it should have a wiring diagram for the engine control module...that way, you can figure out exactly what you need, and hard wire everything yourself?

hmmm...perhaps look around the engine block..or the cylinder heads...there has to be an identifying number somewhere on either the heads or block...then check online for that part number, or go to the dealership, and they should be able to search for that part number...and tell you what application it works with..i know while working for the dealer..the parts computer system that we had..say, you gave us a PN of #12345678..i could run that number, and it would tell me every application for that part...
