Any one have a gas gauge that vibrates and bounces when the key is turned on and off?
Is it an expensive dah board replacement?
Can i take parts off of a 88 silverado to fix this problem

how much does it move when you do that is it extreme or more like gas sloshing around in the tank?

Hello,

My guage flickers all of the time.  It started last year but it still works.

I can tell you exactly what it is.
This is an EXTREMELY common issue with the OBS (88-98) trucks and SUV's.
There are 2 issues which cause this.
1 - if the needle moves around like the fuel is sloshing...it's most likely the sender fingers have worn away...which requires a tank drop and pump removal so as to replace the sender.

Damaged contacts (the little fingers)

OK..sender (see each tab has three little fingers)

2 - The little pulse motor at the back of the guage is shot...which usually causes the needle to fluctuate/vibrate like a hummingbird.
These cost about $10 I believe and an be replaced but necessitate removal of the dash.
