I have a '95 s-10 with the 2.2 I4 that is idling high when it starts. It sometimes slows to normal after a minute or so but then resumes to high if you press on the gas and let off. Anyone know what the problem might be? I was thinking vacuum lines as most of them are dry rotted and need replacing.

that would be the first thing i would try. its sucking in air from one of them and causing it to idle high like that. plus thats cheaperr to fix first.

you hit it right on the nail,,,,those vaccum lines will give you all kinds of grief until you replace them. Also you'll never get it to tune right,, while it has a vaccum leak.
