Updated results in August. Currently I'm a few responses short of being able to report a result for the 2007 Tahoe, Suburban, and Yukon.

The 2007s were included in the August results, with a worse than average repair rate. The sample size was barely over the minimum for even an asterisked result, so a very general indicator at best.

With more participants the result would be more precise, and that asterisk could be removed.

Latest results here:

Next results in November. Hopefully I can get rid of that asterisk.

I think I'm going to start including the Avalanche in the totals, which will help.

I am assuming you have an idea of the number of vehicles produced of the specific brand and manufactuer for each year. It would appear to me as your sample size is no where near the minimum requirements to have any significant confidence level.  What are your parameters? I.e. your confidence level and interval? Population size say for the chevy cobalt?

Unless the size of the population is small, there is no relationship between the size of the population and the size of the sample needed to evaluate this population. That there is a relationship is a common misconception.

The necessary size of the sample is driven by the amount of variance within the population. The results start to provide a general indication with as few as 15 responses and really start to stabilize over 25. It helps that I'm currently focusing on a metric with relatively low variance, the average number of repair trips per year.

Of course, the larger a sample size is, the better. They'll get where they need to be.

When I have enough participants, I'm months ahead of anyone else.

CR reported problems with the Camry V6 this past week. TrueDelta reported these problems back in August.

We'll be reporting a repair rate for the 2008 Buick Enclave in a couple of weeks. CR will be reporting on the Enclave this time next year.

I know this wasn't the best news for Tahoe owners, but we also reported iffy reliability for the GMT900s months ago. CR's rating, incorrect for the past year, was only corrected this past week.

Our sample size isn't as large as theirs. But we've still be providing accurate results well ahead of them and JD Power.

Currently collecting data on 2003, 2004, and 2007. Other years are getting close to the minimum.

Looks like an epic waste of time to me.

Similar (and most likely more detailed) data is compiled by numerous organizations that is readily available to the public.

Reliability isn't modern consumers driving force, the worst cars sold in America are very reliable.
Not to mention the fact that the new long-term manufacturers warranties will ease even the biggest cynics worries.

You might want to take a closer look...

I recently posted a repair rate for the new Buick Enclave. Can you find a single additional source of this information?

With TrueDelta's research process, the results are promptly updated four times a year. On average, our data are over nine months "fresher" than that of Consumer Reports.

Second, TrueDelta posts actual repair rates. Can you find another source that provides more than vague dots? So much for that additional detail.

Finally, if people did not continue to be concerned about reliability, GM and Ford would be in much better shape.

It's pretty obvious that your website is much more geared toward you receiving the almighty dollar from the assortment of advertisers that you link to.

And since the Buick Enclave has only been in production for a short time it may be just a smidge premature for you to hang a repair rate on it.
Most respectable organizations will accumulate a broad range of data to put the averages in order before releasing any of their findings to the public.
