I just put in a wiper hazard conbo switch in a 99 chevy s10 that didnt have cruise control. Ive doublechecked all wires and grounds that were visable anywhere near where i was working. When you turn the key it will start, run, then die after 2 seconds and the security light comes on solid and stays on solid from time to time even when the key is out of the ignition. I've already tried removing battery cables, and i've already let it sit powered up key-on for ten, 20 and 30 mins cause other sites have told me to do so. I would think this would have to do with a passkey system but there isnt a resistor on the key, and it's started everytime before i started working on it.
