I've owned this vehicle since 99 and haven't had any major problems to date, it currently has 170,000 kms. 1997 Z24 automatic transmission. I recently had a problem with trying to start the car - the car would start sometimes, and wouldn't others. The problem was with the ignition switch, which I had a mechanic replace for me. Right after the repair, as I shift from park to drive or park to reverse, it seems like the gears are grinding? Also, as I'm driving and the gears shift, it also seems like they are grinding everytime the gears shift up or down. It causes the car to shake somewhat. I haven't had a chance to go back to the mechanic. Does anyone know if this is a serious problem / big $$$ to fix? I know the mechanic had to access the on-board computer to diagnos the problem with the ignition switch, I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Please help!
