Chevrolet Malibu reliability - how does it compare? - 3/5/2007 10:13:15 AM    mkaresh   Posts: 78 Joined: 3/5/2007 Status: offline Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so any significant changes in a model's reliability become apparent quickly. So far only one year of the Malibu--2005-- is included in this research because too few owners are signed up for other years. I'd like to have the Malibu included, to get a clearer idea of how it compares to the competitiion. But this is going to require quite a few more participants, even for the 2005. To put things in perspective, I already have 79 owners enrolled for the 2008 Accord. Among GM vehicles, 133 are enrolled for the Saturn AURA. But just 96 total for all years of the Malibu. I hope we can fix this. Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter. To encourage participation, panel members receive full access to the results for free. Attractive car. If anyone buys a 2008, I hope they'll sign up so I can provide quick initial results. Very close to getting started with the 2005. Also, just added the Common Auto Repairs Database (CARDb), where members can post common repairs for a car. It's possible to include a link to a forum thread discussing the problem, which could brind additional traffic to this forum. Going to need quite a few more. As stated in the updated OP, I've had a much harder time finding Malibu owners than those of competing cars. And I'd really like to include the Malibu in this research.
