I own a 2003 Avalanche on LPG with a rateling noise in the engine. It sounds as if one of the lifters is worn and the garage tells me to have the heads redone at 60,000 miles. Has anyone ever heard of that problem? I live in Europe (netherlands) and not a lot of people know anything about my car.

ok, noise, constang or when first started. some thinking noise is normal in those engines while running, alot of noise is normal at first start. knocking would be normal at start due to piston sleves being short on this engine design, which causes the piston rock back and forth a bit while going up and down. ticking noise is normal due to lifters, new ones won't fix it for long.
